Doctors have recommended that Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul not play again this season, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Pierre-Paul has been slowed by a shoulder injury that doctors said does not require surgery, but does need rest to heal.

The Giants are out of the running for an NFC playoff berth and it's been a season to forget for Pierre-Paul who also endured coming off back surgery and knee injuries.

MMQB: Broncos now have reasons for concern

On Thursday, Pierre-Paul said he refused to shut his season down.

“I’ve been battling injuries all year,” he said. “It’s part of the game. First, as far as getting back surgery, then the knee (a mild MCL sprain in Week 4) and then the (bleeping) shoulder. That’s how it is.

“I’m never going to shut it down. If I can go, I’m going to go. It (stinks) watching your teammates play without you. But it’s part of the game. You never know when you’re going to get hurt.”
