Andrew Bynum suspended by Cavs, reportedly on trading block

The Cavaliers suspended center Andrew Bynum for conduct detrimental to the team, the team announced Saturday.

Bynum did not travel with the team to Boston last night for Saturday's game against the Celtics. He has been excused from all team activities indefinitely.

Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports reports the Cavs believe their partnership with the former All-Star center has rapidly deteriorated.

Bynum has almost assuredly played his final game for the Cavaliers, a source with direct knowledge of the franchise's plans told Yahoo Sports after the team announced Saturday it has suspended Bynum indefinitely for conduct detrimental to the team.

"He doesn't want to play basketball anymore," a league source told Yahoo Sports.

The Cavaliers believe Bynum has been a "disruptive" presence within the team and have lost hope the partnership can be salvaged, sources said. Bynum often expressed a lack of desire to play and practice and was convinced by the Cavaliers not to quit previously, sources said.

ESPN's Brian Windhorst reports the Cavs will attempt to trade Bynum soon because his two-year, $24 million contract is guaranteed for just $6 million through Jan. 5, 2014. He also could try to negotiate a buyout with the Cavs and try to sign a contract for the veteran's minimum with a contending team if he clears waivers.

After being sidelined by knee injuries last season with the 76ers, Bynum is averaging 8.6 points and 5.3 rebounds in 24 games for the Cavs.
