Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton says that he has been told by head coach Marvin Lewis that he is the quarterback of the future.

Dalton and the Bengals came up short again in the playoffs, losing at home in the wild card round to the San Diego Chargers 27-10, fueling speculation that the team may be looking elsewhere to find a quarterback.

Dalton completed 29 of 51 passes for 334 yards with one touchdown in the loss. He was also picked off twice and lost a fumble.

"It’s great to hear that from your coach and that’s what I wanted to hear. I’ve got a good relationship with Marvin, he’s been telling me a lot of good stuff," Dalton said via Paul Dehner Jr. of The Cincinnati Enquirer. "He said I am the guy he believes in and he believes that I can get us over the next hump."
