Patriots place linebacker Brandon Spikes on injured reserve

The New England Patriots placed linebacker Brandon Spikes on injured reserve with a knee injury, ending his season, the team announced. 

Spikes, 26, played in all 16 games this season and started 12 games. He had 86 total tackles and one interception and one fumble recovery in his fourth season with the Patriots.
