146 MLB players file for arbitration

Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw and Detroit Tigers pitcher Max Scherzer, both 2013 Cy Young Award winners, were among 146 players who filed for arbitration of Tuesday, reports Cash Kruth of MLB.com.

Kershaw, 25, is in his final season of his contract and made $11 million last season.

Tampa Bay Rays left-hander David Price, who has been rumored in trade talks the entire offseason, also filed.

Baltimore first baseman Chris Davis, who lead the majors in home runs and RBI, and Atlanta Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman were among the notables seeking arbitration.

Players exchange contract proposals with teams for one-year contracts starting on Friday.

Players must have at least of Major League service but less than the six needed to qualify for free agency.

The dates for this season's arbitration hearings are scheduled for Feb. 1-21 in St. Petersburg, Fla.
