Former Philadelphia Phillies manager Charlie Manuel has reached an agreement with the team to accept a position working for the front office, according to Jim Salisbury of CSNPhilly.com. Manuel will serve as the senior adviser to general manager Ruben Amaro Jr.

The Phillies fired Manuel in August, naming Ryne Sandberg the interim manager. Sandberg eventually dropped the "interim" title, signing a three-year deal to be the team's manager. At the time, Amaro told the media that Manuel was asked to stay with the organization in a new role.

Manuel was the Phillies manager for nearly nine years, leading the team to a 780-636 record. The Phillies won five straight division titles under Manuel from 2007-2011, and won the World Series title in 2008. His career managerial record is 1,000–826.
