White Sox sign manager Robin Ventura to contract extension

The Chicago White Sox signed manager Robin Ventura to a multiyear contract extension on Friday, the team announced.

Financial details and length of contract were not disclosed.

Ventura, 46, has a 148-176 record in his two seasons with the White Sox, including a 63-99 record and a last-place finish in the AL Central in 2013.

In his first season, the team went 85-77, and Ventura finished third in the AL Manager of the Year voting.

 "There was never really any question in our minds as to who we wanted in the White Sox dugout now and into the future," general manager Rick Hahn said.
