Red Sox DH David Ortiz: 'Hopefully I won't have to wear another uniform'

Boston Red Sox designated hitter David Ortiz is still a productive hitter at age 38, and he wants to keep wearing the Red Sox uniform for as long as he can.

Ortiz will be entering the final season of a two-year, $30 million contract, but he says he doesn't plan to retire.

"As long as they keep offering me a job and I keep doing what I'm supposed to do and the relationship keeps on building up, I'm going to be there," Ortiz said, via CBS Boston. "Hopefully, I won't have to go and wear another uniform."

Ortiz hit .309 with 30 home runs and 103 RBI during the regular season and was even better in the playoffs, especially the World Series.

He hit .353 in October with five home runs and 13 RBI, leading the Red Sox to their third World Championship in the past 10 seasons and earning World Series MVP honors.

"If I have to, I've got no choice," he said. "I'm not going to quit. As long as I keep hitting the ball the way I have, I've got to keep on giving it a try."
