Five-star defensive tackle Matt Elam committed to the University of Kentucky on Thursday, choosing the Wildcats over Alabama.

Elam a 6-foot-5, 370-pound lineman from John Hardin High School in Elizabethtown, Ky., is rated the nation's No. 3 defensive tackle by 247Sports. Elam had scholarship offers from Ohio State, Notre Dame, Tennessee and Louisville, among others.

Elam, who played in the U.S. Army All-American game, made an unofficial visit to Kentucky this past weekend.

Rivals.com now ranks Kentucky's incoming class at No. 13 in the country, ahead of Texas, Penn State, Oklahoma, Stanford, USC and Michigan.
