Ex-NBA All-Star Tracy McGrady confirms intentions to play baseball

Former NBA All-Star Tracy McGrady confirmed his intentions to play baseball, saying to Yahoo! Sports' Tim Brown that the attempt is "not a gimmick."

McGrady retired from the NBA in August and it has been reported that he can throw a 90 MPH fastball.

The Sugar Land Skeeters of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball said in a statement Tuesday they are continue to monitor McGrady's progress after it was reported that he was interested in baseball.

Two years ago, a 50-year-old Roger Clemens made headlines when he pitched two games for the Skeeters. Now, Clemens is reportedly helping McGrady prepare for his baseball debut.

Tracy McGrady is one of the most elite athletes of this era and we appreciate his interest in pursuing a life-long dream with the Sugar Land Skeeters and the Atlantic League. While the Atlantic League is considered the highest level of baseball outside of Major League Baseball, McGrady has demonstrated skill, determination and diligence during his training program at Constellation Field.
