It's already been quite a year for Jameis Winston, as the quarterback led Florida State to its first national championship since 1999 after winning the Heisman Trophy in December.

Honors for Winston continue to roll in, even though he's temporarily traded in his shoulder pads for a cap and glove.

The 20-year-old switch-hitter was named a third-team preseason All-America as a utility player by Baseball America after a freshman season in which he hit .235 with seven doubles, three triples and 21 runs in 22 starts in the outfield and 10 as a designated hitter.

Winston also went 1-2 with a 3.00 ERA and two saves in 17 relief appearances.

"It keeps me busy instead of dealing with all the outside stuff and dealing with everything coming my way," Winston said about continuing to play baseball despite his bright football future. "I keep playing sports, and I've got to keep my grades up, so I won't be focused on any outside things."

Baseball America chooses its preseason All-America teams based on "performance, talent and professional potential," according to the publication.

Florida State is the nation's sixth-ranked team in the publication's preseason poll.
