Antonio Cromartie doesn't need to think twice about the NFL's ban on marijuana — he thinks it's pointless.

“They need to just let it go,” Cromartie said last week in an interview with Thisis50.com, a website run by rapper 50 Cent. “We’re just going to do it anyway. They just need to let it go. They need to go ahead and say, ‘Y’all go ahead, smoke it, do what you need to do.’"

This year's Super Bowl participants both came from states where marijuana is legal, but commissioner Roger Goodell said the NFL's marijuana policy is unlikely to change.

Cromartie, an eight-year veteran, expects to be released by the Jets this offseason.

He later tweeted that he was referring to other players in the interview, not himself, as he doesn't smoke.
