Report: Mariners sign Fernando Rodney to 2-year, $14 million deal

The Seattle Mariners' offseason of splashy moves continued Thursday when the club signed closer Fernando Rodney to a two-year deal, according to a report by Grantland's Jonah Keri.

The contract is worth $14 million, and could be worth up to $15 million with incentives. In Rodney, the Mariners get a closer who set the MLB record for lowest ERA by a reliever with his 0.60 mark in 2012. Last season, Rodney fell back to Earth a bit, posting a 3.38 ERA, though he still saved 37 games and his strikeout rate improved.

Earlier this offseason, Robinson Cano signed a ten-year deal worth $240 million with the Mariners.
