Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo said he has "no idea" when guard Keith Appling will return to the team.

Appling hurt his wrist Dec. 4 against North Carolina but did not miss a game until last night. The Spartans routed Penn State 82-67 without him, and the team welcomed back forward Adreian Payne after a foot injury that forced him to miss seven games.

"I have no idea," Izzo said, via to MLive.com. "This has been the most frustrating. It's beyond disgusting. I have no timeframe. I know he won't practice tomorrow. Whether he does on Saturday or plays Sunday or whether we're going (to Wisconsin) without him, I wish I could tell you. If I knew, I'd tell you."

The ninth-ranked Spartans (20-3, 9-1 Big 10) play Wisconsin (18-5, 5-5) on Sunday.

"We need Keith," Izzo said. "Keith is still our best defender, he's still our best athlete, and he's having a monster year considering what he's played with for the last month and a half."
