The Indianapolis Colts hired former Browns head coach Rob Chudzinski as a special assistant to the head coach, the team announced Saturday.
Chudzinski was fired by the Browns after a 4-12 season. He was reportedly in the mix for the Baltimore offensive coordinator position, but the Ravens went with Gary Kubiak instead.
Chudzinski has a history with Indianapolis coach Chuck Pagano, spending eight seasons together on collegiate and NFL teams. They both worked on the same staff at University of Miami in the late 1990s, and then with the Browns in 2004. From the team's statement:
"Rob and I have a long professional relationship and his résumé speaks for itself," Pagano said. "He brings a wealth of knowledge and will be a tremendous help to our entire team moving forward.
"Needless to say, we're excited to have 'Chud' joining our family."
Chudzinski has 20 years of coaching experience, including 10 seasons in the NFL.
