Report: Tyler Clippard agrees to 1-year, $5.875 million deal with Nationals

Reliever Tyler Clippard and the Nationals avoided arbitration by agreeing on a one-year deal worth $5.875 million, according to Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com.

The 2011 All-Star went 6-3 with a 2.41 ERA in 72 appearances last season and is 30-21 with a 3.00 ERA in his seven-year career (one season with the Yankees and six in Washington).

The 28-year-old has 33 career saves in 59 opportunities, including 32-for-37 in 2012, and has 110 career holds.

He'll likely serve as Rafael Soriano's setup man again this season.
