Matt Garza passed on Angels' contract offer because he was on vacation

Newly signed Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Matt Garza had to pass on an offer from the Los Angeles Angels because he was on vacation with his wife, according to MLB.com'sAdam McCalvy.

Garza received an offer from the Angels in December worth $52 million over four years, but he passed because he was in Turks and Caicos on an anniversary trip and did not want to be distracted by baseball.

“I was on vacation with my wife, and I didn't want to be disturbed," Garza said. "It was like, ‘Here it is, we'll pull it in a certain amount of hours.' I didn't have a chance to respond, so I just said, ‘Whatever. It is what it is.'”
