RB Adam Muema leaves NFL combine, citing religous reasons
Running back Adam Muema abruptly left the NFL Scouting Combine on Sunday, citing religious reasons.
The San Diego Union-Tribune's Michael Gehlken reported Sunday that Muema, the former San Diego State running back, left the combine without competing in afternoon drills at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
In a phone interview with Gehlken, Muema said that he was simply "following God," who Muema said told him that he'd play for the Seattle Seahawks if he missed workouts at the combine.
"(God) told me to sit down, be quiet, and enjoy the peace," he told Gehlken. According to the report, NFL teams were informed of Muema's decision.
Muema is the fourth-leading rusher in San Diego State history. Last season, he carried the ball 256 times for 1,244 yards and 15 touchdowns. He left the school early after completing his junior season.Muema was widely projected to be no higher than a late-round pick.
