UCLA men's basketball head coach Steve Alford announced hours before tipoff Thursday night that the team's two best players, guards Kyle Anderson and Jordan Adams, were suspended for an unspecified violation of team rules.
According to the Los Angeles Times' Chris Foster and other reports, both guards were suspended for Thursday night's game against Oregon. UCLA (21-6 overall, 10-4 Pac-12) was scheduled to take on Oregon (18-8, 6-8) at Pauley Pavilion at 11 p.m. ET.
The sophomore guard Anderson is averaging 15.3 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 6.8 assists per game this season. Fellow sophomore guard Adams, meanwhile, leads the team in scoring with 17.5 points per game.
Anderson on Thursday was announced as one of 15 finalists for the 2014 Oscar Robertson National Player of the Year award.
