Riley Cooper: Penalties for racial slurs would be a 'good rule'

The NFL's proposed rule penalizing players 15 yards for the use of racial slurs on the field has players weighing in on both sides of the issue. Count Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Riley Cooper as one of the backers of the potential penalty.
Cooper was filmed screaming the N-word at a concert last offseason. After the Eagles ordered him to attend counseling sessions but did not release him, Cooper turned in the best season of his career, catching 47 passes for 835 yards and eight touchdowns.
He met with the media after signing a five-year extension Thursday, and the topic of the proposed rule against using slurs on the field came up. Via John Gonzalez of CSNPhilly.com:
“I think it’s a good rule,” Cooper said when asked for his opinion on the subject.
Other players have expressed concern about officials' ability to effectively enforce the rule.
