The New Orleans Saints will use the franchise tag on tight end Jimmy Graham, reports ESPN.com's Adam Schefter.

Monday is the deadline for teams to place the franchise tag on players. It was reported earlier this month that Graham would be ready to file a grievance over the franchise tag and wanted to be considered a wide receiver.

The franchise tag averages the top five annual salaries for a particular position. This season, it's $6.8 million for tight ends, while wide receivers would receive $11.8 million.

Graham and the Saints are reportedly millions of dollars apart on a new deal.
