Report: Colin Kaepernick looking for $18 million per year from 49ers

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick is looking for $18 million per year in a long-term contract with the team, according to Ben Volin of The Boston Globe.

Kaepernick is entering the final year of his rookie deal and is set to earn $973,766 in base pay this season. Volin reports that the quarterback's representatives say they are willing to table negotiations until after this season if the 49ers do not make a fair market offer.

The $18 million per season that Kaepernick is asking for would put his salary in line with other franchise quarterbacks, including Matthew Stafford, Tony Romo and Jay Cutler, according to Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.
