New York Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira left Friday night's game against the Toronto Blue Jays after the second inning due to a strained right hamstring, according to Mark Feinsand of the New York Daily News.

The injury occurred when Teixeira chased after a foul ball hit by Melky Cabrera in the second and came up grabbing the hamstring. ESPN reports that the first baseman called for manager Joe Girardi and a team trainer onto the field to discuss the injury before leaving the game.

The Yankees have moved Kelly Johnson to first base and brought in Brian Roberts from the bench, as New York defeated the Blue Jays 7-3, in pitcher Masahiro Tanaka's MLB debut.

The 2-time All-Star missed all but 15 games in 2013 due to a wrist injury he sustained during the World Baseball Classic.
