Former Oklahoma quarterback Blake Bell, who is transitioning to tight end this season, suffered a knee sprain and will miss the rest of spring practice, according to SoonerScoop.com.

The rising senior will not need surgery, and he is expected to be ready for preseason practices in August.

Bell, who is 6-foot-6 and 265 pounds, lost his job to freshman Trevor Knight, who led Oklahoma to an upset win over Alabama in the Sugar Bowl. In 11 games at quarterback last season, Bell completed 60.1 percent of his passes for 1,648 yards with 12 touchdowns and five interceptions.

Sooners coach Bob Stoops said Bell has "got great hands" earlier this week, but he won't be able to show them off again for a few months.
