The San Francisco Giants have cut off contract extension negotiations with third baseman Pablo Sandoval, Giants general manager Brian Sabean said Tuesday.

Sabean also said he is "probably at the end of the rope” trying to reach a deal with Sandoval.

FOX Sports reported Monday that Sandoval is looking for at least a five-year deal, and would likely seek an increase in the $8.25 million he making this season.

“We’ve given our best shot with good faith intended to try to get him signed and they’ve drawn a line in the sand that we’re not going to beat nor should we meet,” Sabean said, via Comcast SportsNet Bay Area. “Things have been tabled and we’ll see what happens up the line, but we’re not going to have ongoing talks from this time forward.”

Sandoval's agent told the website that the two-time All-Star was open to negotiations during the season but if a deal wasn't done by the All-Star break, Sandoval will likely hit free agency.

Sandoval, 27, is hitting .161 in 31 at-bats with one home run and four RBI this season.
