Atlanta Braves shortstop Andrelton Simmons was a late scratch for Thursday night's game against the New York Mets.

The Braves tweeted that Simmons would miss the game with a jammed right wrist and would be replaced by Ramiro Pena. Simmons injured the wrist stumbling across home plate during Wednesday night's game.

CORCORAN: Why separate awards for AL, NL? For the season, Simmons is hitting .321/.323/.357 with two RBIs. Where the Braves will really feel Simmons' absence is in the field, where he's one of the best defensive shortstops in baseball. He won the NL Gold Glove in 2013, while leading the majors with 41 defensive runs saved.
