Aaron Hernandez is being investigated for allegedly threatening to kill a guard and his family at the Bristol County Jail where he is being held, according to TMZ Sports.

The incident is believed to have occurred late last year, after the guard stopped Hernandez from receiving more food than he was allotted. The former Patriots player is alleged to have made machine gun noises at the correctional officer and to have threatened to "kill the guard and shoot his family" when he is released from jail.

Investigators asked a fellow inmate if he overheard Hernandez making any threats, but the inmate said he did not, although Hernandez did become involved in a verbal altercation with the officer in question.

Hernandez has been in jail since June of 2013 after being charged with the murder of Odin Lloyd. He is also facing charges stemming from a fight with another inmate earlier this year.
