Amar'e Stoudemire: Knicks didn't buy into Woodson's system

It's been a tough year for the New York Knicks, and especially head coach Mike Woodson. The Knicks finished 37-45, with 17 fewer wins than 2012-13, and failed to make the playoffs in the weak Eastern Conference. With the recent hire of Phil Jackson as team president, it has been widely expected that Woodson would be fired in the offseason.

Forward Amar'e Stoudemire didn't exactly cast a vote of confidence for his coach before the team's season finale against Toronto on Wednesday, via Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPNNewYork:

"I mean, again, certain strategies were placed upon us with Coach Woodson. There were times when we didn’t quite buy into it and as a result of that, we lost games."

Fellow stars Carmelo Anthony and Tyson Chandler have also been critical of Woodson at times this season.

This season, the Knicks allowed 106.5 points per 100 possessions, per NBA.com/stats, good for 24th in the league. Stoudemire averaged 11.9 points in 22.6 minutes per game.
