Atlanta's Chick-fil-A Bowl will bring "Peach" back to its title in 2015, according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Tim Tucker reports Chick-fil-A Bowl officials are planning a news conference on Monday to reveal the bowl's name will revert back to the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl.

The throwback move is tied to the Atlanta bowl's new role as one of six rotating sites of College Football Playoff national semifinal games. Playoff organizers have insisted that the Atlanta bowl’s name would need to get in sync with the other five bowls in the semifinal rotation, all of which include traditional monikers with their corporate sponsor titles: Allstate Sugar Bowl, Discover Orange Bowl, AT&T Cotton Bowl, Tostitos Fiesta Bowl and Rose Bowl Presented by Vizio.

Gary Stokan, president of the bowl, confirmed the plan Friday. Via the report:

“It got down to what is our history, what is our heritage, what is our tradition and how can we pay homage to that in our name,” Stokan said.

“We undertook research to find out what is the best name and how it fits with the bowl. That’s how we got back to Peach. We felt it was important to the fans, to the staff and to the volunteers who have committed to the bowl through the years. So we paid homage to the history and the tradition of the bowl.”

The annual game, founded as the Peach Bowl in 1968, became the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl when the chicken sandwich restaurant chain became the bowl's first title sponsor in 1997. The "Peach" reference was dropped from the bowl's title eight years ago.
