Report: Bobby Abreu Expected to Join Mets Monday

Former Major League All-Star, Bobby Abreu is expected to join the New York Mets on Monday the team reported.

Abrue, who played his last major league game in 2012, was picked up by the Mets after the Philadelphia Phillies cut the 40-year-old during spring training. The Mets signed Abreu to a minor league contract before the start of the season. In 15 games this season, Abreu was batting .395 with 1 home run and 9 RBI's in 15 games for the Las Vegas 51s.

Abreu has collected more than 2,000 hits in his 17-year career.
