Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Wandy Rodriguez is experiencing inflammation in his right knee and has been placed on the 15-day disabled list, according to the team.

Rodriguez has struggled in his four starts so far this season, giving up seven home runs in 20 innings pitched with an ERA of 7.65 and a WHIP of 1.60. He lasted just four innings on Saturday, giving up four runs before leaving the game.

The team has recalled Jared Hughes from its Triple-A affiliate, the Indianapolis Indians, to fill Rodriguez roster spot. Hughes has spent time with the club in each of the past three seasons, throwing 32 innings of relief last year for a 4.78 ERA.
