Connecticut center Amida Brimah will have surgery for a left shoulder labral repair, the school announced.

The school said the surgery will take place on Friday, and will repair a torn labrum that bothered Brimah at times during his freshman season. The recovery period is expected to take around four to five months.

Brimah averaged 4.1 points and 3.0 rebounds per game and shot 64 percent from the field, while playing in all 40 games, with 17 starts, for the national champions.

He was second in the American Athletic Conference in blocked shots per game and was named to the conference's All-Rookie Team last season.
