Giants co-owner John Mara acknowledged in an interview with the team's website that the league's kickers have gotten better, and the extra point will likely need to see some changes soon.
Mara said more research needs to be done, but he suggested possibly narrowing the goal posts to make the extra point more challenging. From the Giants' site:
“You see a lot of discussion about the extra point and what we’re going to do with that, and I think there’s a general feeling that we need to do something there,” Mara said. “The kickers have gotten so good, there’s some discussion about whether we should make the goal posts, the uprights, narrower at some point in the future. We’re not ready to do that just yet but you could see that at some point in the future if the accuracy continues to improve.”
He also addressed the option of making the two-point attempt more enticing by moving the ball back, calling that change "something worth looking at."
