Miami Marlins second baseman Rafael Furcal has been removed from his rehab assignment after after experiencing tightness in his groin, according to the Miami Herald's Manny Navarro.

Furcal was shut down with a hamstring injury during spring training and had begun rehabbing with the Marlins Double-A affiliate in Jacksonville, but began to experience tightness while running the bases last week, and will take some time off from his minor league stint while he recovers.

Marlins president of baseball operations Mike Hill said that Furcal was progressing quickly before the setback.

"We were starting to see much more consistent at-bats," Hill said of Furcal. "His hamstring feels great. His defense has been solid. So, it's just a matter of making sure his body is ready what he's going to undergo here."
