Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports tweeted on Tuesday that the Orioles plan to activate Manny Machado for Tuesday's series opener against the Pirates.

Machado has yet to play this season after offseason surgery to repair a knee injury suffered last September. He experienced a setback this spring after originally being targeted for a return on Opening Day.

Machado performed well in three minor league rehab games this week, going 8-for-12 (.667) with four doubles and a triple.

The 21-year-old is coming off a productive season at the plate. He batted .283 with 14 home runs and 71 RBI and won a Gold Glove at third base.
