Two-time All-Star Carlos Quentin is expected to make his season debut on Tuesday for the Padres, months after undergoing a third knee surgery in September that ended his season last summer.

San Diego sports talk host Darren Smith tweeted that Quentin will travel with the team to Cincinnati and is expected to be activated for their series-opening game against the Reds on Tuesday.

He's coming off a 3-18 performance in a minor league rehab assignment, so the Padres will likely ease him back into the lineup, particularly considering the depth of Will VenableChris Denorfia, Seth Smith and Cameron Maybin.

The 31-year-old is hitting a career .255 heading into this season, with 150 home runs and 473 RBIs. He has only played 168 of a possible 363 games in recent years.
