Cardinals corner Patrick Peterson: I'm worth more than Richard Sherman's contract

Arizona Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson says he is one of the league's best defenders and believes he is worth more than the contract Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman received.
Sherman was re-signed to a four-year, $57 million extension with $40 million guaranteed last week. Peterson still has two years left on his rookie deal after the team exercised the team option in his contract. The team and Peterson's agent are in the early stages of negotiations and have no timetable on reaching a deal.
"I'm making OK money right now, but I'm just not making his money right now," Peterson said, via ESPN.com.
Peterson is set to make $2.88 million next season and $10 million in 2015.
"I think cornerbacks are definitely worth the dollars that they get because now this league is a passing league," he said. "You need that shutdown corner to lock down one side of the field, or like myself, go out there the entire field."
Last season, Peterson had 42 total tackles and three interceptions, earning first-team AP All-Pro honors. Sherman was the other cornerback named to the first-team.
