Nets' Paul Pierce on future: 'I still have something in the tank’

Brooklyn Nets forward Paul Pierce says he wants to play one or two more seasons and insists he still has "something in the tank."

Pierce made the comments last night after the Nets were eliminated in five games by the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference Semifinals. Pierce is set to become an unrestricted free agent this offseason, but the team can offer him a more lucrative contract because Pierce has Bird Rights, giving Brooklyn a major edge in re-signing the veteran.

"I haven't really put much thought into it," Pierce said, via ESPN.com. "I put my whole focus into this season, it's my last year of the contract. I will sit back and talk to the family and see where my options are from there and go from there."

"I think I still have something in the tank I can give a team," he added. "Maybe one or two (years) at the most."

Pierce, 36, averaged 13.5 points this season. Longtime teammate Kevin Garnett has not decided about his future. Garnett has one year left on his contract and is scheduled to make $12 million next season.
