New York Yankees pitcher CC Sabathia will be out at least until July because of a knee injury, reports Joel Sherman of the New York Post.

Sabathia was placed on the 15-day disabled list with an inflamed right knee and went to see orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews last week. Sabathia has said he felt discomfort on May 4 and that his knee became swollen after the game.

Yankees manager Joe Girardi has said he would be shocked if Sabathia comes off the DL on May 26 after undergoing stem cell treatment on the knee.

“It will be no sooner than six weeks from now,” Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said in discussing a potential return date for Sabathia.

Sabathia is 3-4 with a 5.28 ERA this season. In his last start on May 10, Sabathia pitched 5.1 innings, giving up eight hits and four runs, three of them unearned.
