New Orleans Saints owner Tom Benson was taken to the hospital on Tuesday after falling off the podium at a presentation for New Orleans' bid to host Super Bowl LII, according to Kami Mattoli of the Sporting News.

The 86-year old Benson fell and hit his head at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Atlanta, after which he was taken to the hospital for a precautionary examination before returning to New Orleans on Tuesday night.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell was at the presentation and said Benson appeared to be OK after the tumble.

"As he was turning, he just lost his balance and fell. Fortunately, he appears to be fine," commissioner Roger Goodell said. "I think it was a precautionary step to take him to the hospital. Our thoughts are with Tom Benson's family right now. The initial reaction looks very positive. I spoke to him in the back before he left."
