Russia captain Alex Ovechkin will be back back in the lineup on Thursday for his team's quarterfinal matchup against France, according to a tweet from Sports Express reporter Slava Malamud.

The return comes following a scare last week in which the 28-year-old suffered an open-ice hip check that caught him on the right knee. Ovechkin needed to be carried off the ice and was taken away in an ambulance.

Germany's Marcus Kink was subsequently suspended for the hit for what the IIHF said was clipping.

The Capitals captain makes his return on Thursday having recorded three goals and six assists in six games in the tournament.
