Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch's mom: He just 'didn't want to go' to White House
“He just said he didn’t want to go,” his mother, Delisa Lynch, told Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times. "No particular reason was given to me.’’
The four-time Pro Bowler has been mourning the recent death of a family member, his mother told the Seattle Times, but she didn't think that factored into his decision. The 28-year-old rarely gives interviews, and he did his best to hide from microphones at Super Bowl media day.
Despite his absence, the president did mention Lynch.
“I am sorry that Marshawn’s not here because I just want to say how much I admire his approach to the press,” Obama said, drawing laughter from the crowd. “I wanted to get some tips from him. It’s about the action.” Said Delisa Lynch: “President Obama said it best."
Delisa Lynch said she watched the ceremony from work and texted Marshawn about the president's comments about him, to which he responded "laughing out loud."
It was “really considerate’’ that Obama mentioned her son, Delisa said, “considering that he didn’t go.’’SI WIRE: Falcons sign OT Jake Matthews, DE Ra'Shede Hageman to rookie deals
