Mets place pitching prospect Noah Syndergaard on DL

The New York Mets have placed Noah Syndergaard, their top prospect, on the disabled list with a strain in his pitching elbow, according to Adam Rubin of ESPN New York.

The team says that the right-hander has suffered "a mild flexor-pronator strain" and will head to New York for an examination of the injury.

Syndergaard is ranked as the 10th best prospect in baseball by MLB.com and has put together a 5-2 record with an ERA of 4.02 and 57 strikeouts for the Triple-A Las Vegas 51s this season.
