Report: Vinny Del Negro serious candidate for Timberwolves job
According to Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski, Del Negro met in Cleveland with Timberwolves general manager Flip Saunders.
The team is seeking to replace Rick Adelman, who retired last month after three seasons with the team and one year remaining on his contract.
Del Negro last coached with the Clippers during the 2012-13 season. That team won 56 games, but was bounced out in the first round of the playoffs and the team decided not to renew his contract in the offseason.
In five seasons as an NBA head coach, Del Negro complied a 210-184 record with four playoff appearances.

Minnesota initially pursued three of the top names in the college but was rebuffed by Michigan State's Tom Izzo, Florida's Billy Donovan and Iowa State's Fred Hoiberg. ESPN.com reported in late March that the Wolves would make a hard play for Hoiberg, who both played and served as an executive in Minnesota before moving to the college game at Iowa State, but Hoiberg could not be convinced to leave the Cyclones, who have since awarded him a sweetened contract.SI ROUNDTABLE: Will KD, Russ win a title? | Star that needs a fresh start?
