Report: Bills DT Marcell Dareus arrested for misdemeanor charges connected to car race

Bills defensive tackle Marcell Dareus was arrested in Upstate New York last week on misdemeanor and vehicle and traffic charges connected to a car race, according to James Staas of TheBuffalo News. The arrest comes just a few weeks after he was arrested in Alabama on felony drug charges. 

The 24-year-old faces three misdemeanor and four vehicle and traffic charges, according to the report on Monday. The most serious charge is reckless endangerment, which could bring a year in jail because it is a Class A misdemeanor.

Dareus was allegedly involved in a race that ended with property damage and he reportedly left the scene before police arrived. He was arrested last Friday afternoon but at the time there was no indication of what the charges were related to for the Bills' defensive tackle.

Dareus, who was named to the Pro Bowl in 2013, is already facing a possible suspension from the NFL for the synthetic marijuana and drug paraphernalia he was found to be in possession of when he was pulled over recently by Alabama State Police.

Last Wednesday, just two days before he was arrested, Dareus was quoted by TheBuffalo News as saying he's not a "trouble guy."

“They believe in me. They know that I’m not a trouble guy. They know I’m not the type of person that’s trying to look for any trouble. I’m not trying to do anything. Things happen and we’re moving forward and they know I’m going to grow into the guy they want me to be.”
