The 146th running of the Belmont Stakes will take place Saturday afternoon at Belmont Park in Elmont, N.Y. Last year, Palace Malice outpaced Preakness Stakes winner Oxbow and Kentucky Derby winner Orb for the victory, taking the race in 2:30.70 from the No. 12 post position. This year’s favorite, California Chrome -- looking to become the first Triple Crown winner since 1978 -- will run from the No. 2 position.
Eleven horses since 1905 have won from the No. 2 post.
