The Rockies announced Thursday that right-handed pitcher Jordan Lyles will go on the 15-day disabled list because of a fractured third metatarsal (ring finger) in his left hand.

The 23-year-old suffered the injury when he placed a tag on third baseman Martin Prado, bending his left hand backwards in the Rockies' 16-8 home loss to the Diamondbacks on Wednesday. The injury occurred in the first inning when Prado's knee struck Lyles' glove hand at home plate after a wild pitch. Lyles remained in the game, using two hands to catch the ball in between pitches but exited after the fourth inning.

In his first season with the Rockies, he's compiled a 5-1 record and a 3.52 ERA in his first season with the Rockies. He had previously been with the Astros for three years.

In his place, Colorado recalled right-handed pitcher Chris Martin from Triple-A Colorado Springs. The Rockies are currently third in the NL West with a 28-30 record.
