Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay will have his government mandated random drug tests monitored by the NFL in addition to the state prosecutor's office, according to Bob Kravitz of The Indianapolis Star.

Irsay granted the Star his first interview since he was pulled over on suspicion of driving under the influence, and found to have a large number of pills in addition to $29,000 in cash, but would not elaborate on the events that led to his arrest. He did say that he usually carried large amounts of cash around with him because he is "someone who is extremely generous."

He also said that he has learned to better deal with his addiction to painkillers throughout his stay in rehab and that he hopes people understand addiction as a disease.

I really think the disease aspect gets lost when you're talking about alcoholism and addiction; it's not like you're battling leukemia or a heart problem; it is that. But even in 2014, there's still this stigma.

The owner said he does still take some medicine for pain management but that it is closely monitored by healthcare professionals.
