With all eyes on the Spurs' Sunday night game as they look to close out the Miami Heat in Game 5 of the NBA Finals, San Antonio swingman Kawhi Leonard took time during Saturday's media day to respond to speculation that he may be named NBA Finals MVP if his team goes on to win it all.

Brett Pollakoff of NBC Sports transcribed comments from the 2011 15th overall pick, who spoke at the Spurs' practice facility:

"It doesn’t mean nothing to me. Just try to go out and win the next game, and that’s all I’m doing.”

Leonard, who turns 23 years old at the end of June, scored 29 points in a pivotal Game 3 win and followed it up in a Game 4 win with 20 points, 14 rebounds, three assists and three steals to give the Spurs a 3-1 series lead. Overall, he is averaging 16.7 points and shooting 58.9 percent in the Finals and has completely smothered and flustered LeBron James at times.

Our SI.com staff takes a deeper look at potential MVP candidates.
