The Miami Marlins have announced several roster moves, including calling top pitching prospect Andrew Heaney up from Triple-A and placing Christian Yelich on the 15-day disabled list with a back injury.
Heaney was listed as a top-30 prospect by multiple outlets including MLB.com before the season, and has performed well in the minor leagues this year, with a 2.47 ERA and 79 strikeouts in 13 starts across Double- and Triple-A ball.
Yelich has hit .259/.352/.418 with 24 RBI for the Marlins this season, which will be his first full year on an MLB roster. The 22-year old left fielder was out of the starting lineup with back issues this past weekend and the team decided to move him to the disabled list to allow for a full recovery.
Miami also announced it designated veteran pitchers Randy Wolf and Kevin Slowey for assignment, and called up Anthony DeSclafani, Justin Bour and Jake Marisnick from the minor leagues. Marisnick is expected to start in the outfield until Yellich is reactivated.
